Scene 1: CW
State Penitentiary
Johny Fingers is sitting at a table with Big Jim O'Leary
during a a visiting hour session at the pen. They have been
talking and laughing about the old days and how O'Leary's
dad knew Johny's father and used to run shipments of whiskey
in and out of Canada during the prohibition days. As they
are talking, a guard is standing just to the left of them
listening to their every word. He has been there for some
time and after he finally decides they are talking about
nothing crime related, he wanders over o another table.
John, seeing that the coast is clear, begins to talk to
O'Leary.
John: The ole man sent
me up to see you. Says you can help us with a little problem
we got.
O'Leary: (Looks around) What kind of problem we talkin
about?
John: The little guy from Boston stepped up a while ago.
His lap dog just about killed our friend from Brooklyn. Our
friend is a Captain.
O'Leary: Who is his lap dog?
John: (Looks around to make sure they are not being
monitored) Pappalia...
O'Leary: (Smiles) You tell our friend to rest assured.
But tell him, this is gonna cost him 100 grand. Tell him to
make sure my little girl gets every single dime of it.
John: (stands up and shakes O'Leary's hand) It was nice
to talk to you. I will be in touch.
John gets
led to the exit by the guard and O'Leary is taken back to
his cell as the scene changes to Joe driving in his car. His
music is blaring and he is smoking a joint. He is driving
well over the speed limit when he hears sirens over top of
his music. He looks in the rear view mirror and sees the red
and blue lights flashing behind him. He starts to swear and
yell as he throws the joint out the window and begins to
roll down all the windows in the car frantically. He pulls
over the car and the police car pulls up behind him. The
officer remains in his car for what seems like an hour
before he finally walks up to the window. Joe is sitting
there waiting for the cop to say something but the cop
remains standing beside the door before he finally looks in
the window. Joe looks up expecting a confrontation but
realizes it is a cop he knows and they both start laughing.
Joe:
You cocksucker! You almost
gave me a heart attack. I was just finishing a joint.
Cop: I can tell. You're lucky it was me pulling you
over. You should be more careful.
Joe: Yeah yeah, what you got for me?
Cop: That info you wanted about your friend Sonny...
Joe: Yeah?
Cop: As far as my guy on the inside says, Sonny has
definately been talking with the feds, only, he says it is
for a different reason.
Joe: Different reason? What kind of Different
reason?
Cop: I don't know if this is true or not, I am just
going by what I was told.
Joe: Spit it out, you're killing me here!
Cop: He says that there was a kidnapping and that Sonny
is somehow involved or related to the victim but I don't
know which one it is and they are not clear on it either.
Joe: Kidnapping? This shit just keeps getting more and
more fucked up!
Cop: Sorry Joe, that's all I could do for ya man. Wish I
could do more..
Joe: Yeah, here..(Handing the cop a handful of bills)
here's a little somethin for you..but a new pair of boots or
something.
The cop
steps away from the car as Joe drives off. The scene changes
to Jay sitting at a table in the back of his club. He is
flanked by Joey Merlino, Ritchie Degrazzio, Donovan
Gomezabino and Rocco Salieri. Jay is talking to them about
some changes that he is making in the organization when the
phone rings. Jay answers it and it is Joe on the other end.
He fills him in on the Sonny situation. Jay hangs up and
starts to address the guys.
Jay: Our friend upstate has agreed to help us with our
situation regarding Pappalia. If all goes well, he will be a
distant memory by this time tomorrow.
John: And Totino?
Joey Merlino: He wants a sit down. Don't know if he will
still want one after Pappalia is gone.
Ritchie: Is he that stupid? What is stopping us from
just letting him come to us for the chopping block?
Jay: Honor!
The
men just look at Jay in disbelief. If anyone has reason to
kill Totino it is Jay. Yet he actually contemplates having a
sit-down to the disagreements of his Captains.
Jay: I realize we have all taken a lot from this stupid
war. But sometimes it takes a good slap of reality to ground
you back to earth. Blood for blood? Enough blood has been
spilt. With Pappalia out of the way, I will offer a truce to
Totino. If he is a smart man, he will accept this truce. If
our two families cannot come to an agreement and end this
dispute, then I will have truly failed as Boss of this
family.
The men look
at each other and nod in agreement. Jay stands up and hugs
each of them as they leave the room. the scene fades out as
Jay sits down and begins to make a phone call.
Scene 2: Blanco's Bistro
Pappalia is
just finishing up his lunch. He is so busy trying to pick up
the waitress that he fails to notice the young man on a
pedal bike sitting across the street watching him. Pappalia
finishes up and leaves the bistro. As he is walking towards
his car, the young man on the bike begins to ride towards
him. As Pappalia is about to unlock his car door he hears
the man yell out "Hey Mister". Pappalia turns
to look and the man stops and pulls out a gun and unloads
four shots into Pappalia's chest. people on the street start
screaming and running in all directions as Pappalia slowly
slumps to his knees then slumps onto his stomach. The man
walks up and shoots him two more times in the head and then
says "Wayout says fuck you cocksucker!" The scene
changes to Totino sitting in his office in Brooklyn. He is
busy going over some figures with one of his cousins, Alex
Totino, from last nights fights. He is smiling at the profit
he is seeing when he gets a call. He listens to the news of
Pappalia's assassination and he begins to smash the phone on
the table.
Totino:
(Yelling) SONOVA BITCH!
Alex: What happened?
Totino: They got JP, He's gone! I've been sent for.
Alex: Sent for?
Totino: Old man Gomezabino says he wants to offer a
truce.
Alex: You can't seriously be thinking of going?
Totino: I've been sent for.. It's time to put this shit
to bed. But I will not go alone. I want you to call Mac.
Tell him to be here tomorrow morning. We will go see
Gomezabino. He won't be as likely to take us all out if Mac
is with us.
Alex: Why Mac?
Totino: Gomezabino respects him. He bailed his ass out of a
jam back in the pen. Never forgot that.
Alex: I'll go see him. We will be here tomorrow morning.
Totino
stands up and looks out the window as Alex leaves the room.
Totino looks out the window and begins to remember the first
time him and Pappalia met. He remembers Pappalia telling him
how he would die for this thing of ours. Totino grabs his
drink off the table and raises it in the air. "Goodbye Old
friend" The scene fades out as he takes a drink.
Scene 3: Downtown Pizza shop back room.
Jay, Joe,
John and Ritchie are waiting in the back room for Totino.
They are all sitting at the table playing cards when Totino,
Mac and Alex walk in. Joe clears the table and the men stand
up. Totino and his men are hesitant at first to step
all the way into the room.
Joe:
You guys heavy?
Totino: What you think I am an idiot? Of course we're
heavy..but I am hoping we don't have to use it.
Jay: ( Nods respectfully to Mac) In good faith, I will
assume you will respect my wishes when I say..put the guns
on the table beside you.
Totino looks
at Jay and hesitates for a moment, then looks at his guys
and they all put their guns on the table. Ritchie walks over
and grabs the gun and puts them in a bag and then places
them in the fridge. He then joins the men at the table.
Jay: (Looks at Totino) Have a seat.
Totino: (Looking back) Alright.
Totino sits
down at the table with Jay as the other men take a walk
outside and talk with each other. The camera pans into
Totino and Jay.
Jay: You killed my brother. So before you go spewing off
about me killing Pappalia, you be glad you are still
breathing you gutless cocksucker!
Totino: Ok, first of all, Fuck you and your holier than
thou attitude. I am a fucking Boss and whether you want to
respect that or not, It remains true. Second, the death of
your brother was an accident. Had I known who he was, it
would never have happened.
Jay: Let's put our cards on the table here.
Totino: I agree.
Jay: This all started because you were in MY territory!
(Jay's voice is noticeably angered.)
Totino: Your territory? As I remembered it, The Ole man
went away to the can, it left that wide open. I simply did
what any of you would have done.
Jay: (yelling) Fuck that! You fuckin knew it was my
territory you sonova bitch and you dare come to me and tell
me to my face that you were in your rights to take it from
me?
Totino: You called this sit-down, not me.
Jay: (Calming down) You're right. Lets get down to why
you're here. I want this shit to end, and I know you want it
to end. We both want to go back to earning and we both agree
the bloodshed has to stop.
Totino: So what do you suggest?
Jay: It's my territory. You wanna push H through there,
you're gonna pay me like everyone else.
Totino: (Looks at him for a moment and relaxes in his
chair) What's your end?
Jay: 60-40 my way.
Totino: Fuck that, 60-40 my way, and I take care of the
cops for both of us!
Jay: Fuck that! 60-40 my way, you take care of the
cops..and you stay alive!
Totino: You are one stubborn fuck aren't you? ( Lets out
a sigh of relief) In the interest of getting back to
earning, I will accept your terms.
Both men
stand up and shake hands and hug each other. As they hug
each other, Jay grabs Totino close and speaks into his ear.
Jay: North Boston, that's the price you pay for Vic.
Give me that, and this shit gets buried.
Totino nods
in agreement and both men smile and hug each other. They
both come out of the room with smiles on their face and a
look of relief comes over them men. They all decide to go to
a local club to celebrate. As they are about to leave, Joe's
cell phone rings. As he answers it, he hears Sonny's voice
on the other end...
