Scene 1: 2 hours
later at the Fireside Pit
Donovan on orders from Joe
has taken a few guys down to the new club looking for
Pappalia. The music is pounding out rave tunes while people
are dancing all around them and drinking. There are crowds
of people everywhere and it is hard for them to make out any
faces with the lights going around. In the back, Pappalia is
sitting with some girls playing the role and having a good
time, totally oblivious to who has just walked into the
club. Donovan and his boys, Ritchie and Sonny, are half way
through the club when Sonny spots Pappalia in the back.
Sonny:
(Yelling over the music) THERE HE IS...
Donovan:
(Also yelling over the music) WHAT??
Sonny:
(Pointing to the back of the club) LOOK!
Donovan sees Pappalia and motions
for his guys to surround him. Just as they start to make
their move Pappalia notices them and immediately jumps up
and runs out the back. The three of them chase after him.
They run out the back and down the alley. Pappalia is
running as fast as he can with Donovan and his guys right on
his tail. They run in one building, up the stairs, through
the halls then up on the roof. All of the men jump from one
roof to the other and keep running. They end up goign back
though a building and back down to the street. As Pappalia
hits the street he pulls out his gun and shoots back causing
Donovan and the other 2 men to duck behind a car. Pappalia
begins to run again and the three men give chase again.
Pappalia shoots back again and the three men return fire.
They run down another back alley but Pappalia is no where to
be found. They walk down the alley but they don't see a sign
of him anywhere. Pappalia is gone.
Sonny:
(Sighs) Joe is gonna be pissed.
Donovan:
What you worrying about? You aren't the one who has to tell
him.
Ritchie:
Oh shit ..guys...
(with concern in his voice) What the hell happened out
there?
Joe:
Ritchie took one in the stomach. They are trying to save
him.
Jay:
How did it happen.
Donovan:
It was my fault Boss.
Jay:
(Gives Donovan a serious Look) You'd better hope Ritchie
pulls through.
Joe:
Now don't be like that. they did all they could..it could
have been a lot worse.
Just then Brady and Wilcox walk
into the room and everyone in the room is visibly disturbed
by them being there. Jay and Joe stand there watching as
Brady and Wilcox make their rounds trying to get information
on what happened but the men just stand silent. Brady heads
over to Jay.
Brady:
Hello Jay... I was wondering when we would meet.
Jay:
Pleasure is all mine officer.
Brady:
That's Captain Brady to you asshole..don't forget it (Brady
pokes his finger into Jays chest as he says it)
Jay:
(Looking down at Brady's finger as his bodyguard steps
forward but is waved of by Jay) I'll remember that.
Wilcox:
What about you Joe. Your friend is in their on the operating
table and you won't tell us anything huh? Don't you care
about your friend?
Joe just keeps silent and Brady and
Wilcox get fed up and finally leave. Joe is visibly angry.
Joe:
I hate that motherfucker
Jay:
Easy little brother...all in good time..all in good time..
The Doctor comes into the room and
everyone sits attentively. He begins to tell them of the
events in the surgery.
Doctor:
Ok, Mr. Degrazzio suffered a gunshot wound to the spleen.
Now we were able to save him however his heart did stop
twice for a total of 6 minutes.
Jay:
So he is gonna be ok?
Doctor:
He will need at least 3 months to
fully recover but yes he will pull through. He is in stable
condition.
Sonny:
Can we see him doc?
Doctor:
Not right now. Give him a day or so..he will be weak for a
while.
The scene fades out with Jay and
Joe shaking the doctors hand and the camera pans to Ritchie
in the recovery room with tubes coming out of everywhere.
The camera pans back and fades.
Scene 3: Totino's hideout
Totino and Pappalia are in a cabin
north of the city. Seated with them are Capo Jimmy Piatoni,
Capo Jay Ravlich and a couple bodyguards. They are
discussing the recent event that John just went through.
Jimmy:
My guys on the street say that Gomezabino is starting to put
the pressure on them about You and John.
Ravlich:
Nicky..he was with me. They went too far taking him out.
Pappalia:
I almost got it too. How long we gotta
hide here until that fuck finds us? A week, maybe a month?
Then what?
Totino:
We need to get to the brother. We get him..we get Jay.
Jimmy:
And how do we do that? He is never alone?
Ravlich:
He is at Delveccio's cafe every morning for coffee with
Sonny Provenzano.
Totino:
Who is this..
Provenzano?
Ravlich:
He is Captain of the Delacroce Crew. Apparently he is Joe's
right hand man.
Totino:
You and Jimmy see to it that you get them both. Make it
messy. I want a message sent.
Ravlich:
Done!
Totino hugs both men and they leave
closing the door behind them. Totino turns to John with a
scowl look in his face.
Totino:
Our guys say that a shipment of cars is coming in on the
docks tonight. Gomezabino has that territory. I want that
load.
Pappalia:
What do you suggest?
Totino:(Yelling)
WHAT THE FUCK? I GOTTA DO ALL THE THINKING? You go down
there and you do whatever the fuck it takes. Just get me
that load!
Pappalia:
I'll get some guys together. We'll get it done.
Totino:
(Pulls in close) You fail this one.. you're done!
The scene ends with the camera on
Pappalia's face as a look of fear covers it.
Scene 4: Delveccio's cafe 9:30am
Joe and Sonny are sitting having
their usual morning coffee. Joe is looking out the window.
He has a peculiar look on his face. He motions to Sonny to
have a look across the street. They see two guys in trench
coats standing in the rain. they also notice one of their
jackets open just enough to reveal a shotgun underneath. The
men seem to be waiting for someone to come out. It doesn't
take long for Joe to realize they are waiting for them.
Joe:
(Takes his phone out) I'm gonna call
Donovan, you go stand by the back door just in case.
Sonny:
Got it.
Joe:
(On the phone) You know where I am at. I want you to meet me
across the street in the alley. Make sure the trunk is
empty.
Joe hangs up the phone and heads
towards the back door. He takes another look out the window
to see the two men still standing there, drenched and cold
but they haven't moved. Joe and Sonny go out the back and
head around back of the building across the street. The two
men are standing talking.
Unknown man 1:
How long we gotta wait here man?
Unknown man 2:
Rav told us to make sure those two don't leave here alive.
We wait till they come out.
Unknown man 1:
Shit man, I'm fucking freezing.
Just at that moment both men feel
guns poke into their backs.
Joe:
(grabbing their shotguns) Come with us or we will put a
fucking bullet in your head where we stand!
The men go with Joe and Sonny into
the back alley where Donovan is waiting with a car. Joe
looks around to make sure nobody is around. He opens the
trunk and tells the two men to get in. They are reluctant
until Sonny hits one of them with a tire iron so hard that
the sound of bones breaking can be heard as one of the men
fall to their knees. Sonny and Joe force the two into the
trunk and they all drive off.
Scene 5: a barn on a farm 2 hours
out of the city
Joe, Donovan, Sonny and the two
hostages are in a barn outside of town. The two men are in
chairs tied up. One has already visibly pissed himself and
they other is almost unconcious from the apparent beating he
has just taken. Joe is standing against the wall as Donovan
and Sonny take care of the interrogation.
Sonny:
We know who sent you. Just tell us where Totino is.
Unknown Man 1:
If we tell you...he'll kill us.
Sonny:
Motherfucker I'll kill you if you don't!
Unknown man 2:
We ain't saying shit.
Donovan hits the man so hard with a
bat that the mans nose shatters and he spits out a few teeth
in the process.
Unknown man 2:
(Spitting out blood) That the best you can do?
Donovan:
No actually..I will be right back.
Sonny:
Oh you should have just told us where he is...this is his
favourite part.
Donovan comes out of the back with
a chainsaw and starts it up. both men start shaking. One of
the men start yelling for them to stop.
Donovan:
No No No..what was it you said....That the best I can do..I
believe that was it right?
Donovan goes up to the second man
and cuts off his feet as the man screams in agony. Donovan
then begins cutting off his arms while Joe leaves the barn.
Joe stands outside and lights up a cigar as Sonny and
Donovan do their work. He can hear screams coming from
inside over the sound of the chainsaw. then he hears the
chainsaw go quiet. There is a moment of silence then a
single gunshot rings out. Joe throws his cigar to the ground
and goes back inside.
Donovan:
We got it..let's go.
Sonny:
Lets clean this up. I have an idea....
Joe:
Remind me never to ask if that is the best you can do...
All three men laugh and leave the barn. The camera pans
out as we see the lifeless bodies of the 2 men. The grizzly
picture of the events fades out.
Scene 6: Joe's club
Joe is in his office and he is
flanked by top ranking members of the family. To his right
is Sonny, who is painstakingly going through the events over
the last couple weeks. The men are seen talking well into
the night when there is a loud bang and the office door
blows open as a swat team enters the room.
SWAT OFFICER 1:
EVERYBODY ON THE FUCKING FLOOR NOW!
Everyone in the room gets on the
floor..all but Joe who defiantly stands there looking at
them. The lead officer walks up to Joe and is about to hit
him when another voice is heard..
Brady:
DON'T TOUCH HIM... he is mine.
Joe:
I figured as much, you got nothing better to do prick? And
you owe me a door!
Brady:
Shut the fuck up and listen. You are all under arrest.
Joe:
On what charge?
Brady:
How does murder grab ya?
Joe:
Murder? (laughing) You got nothing on me and you know it.
This is all smoke and mirrors and you know it.
Brady:
Smoke and mirrors? We got a guy who says you ordered the
death of Bobby Lupo and a few others. You're fucked..
Joe stays silent as the police go
through his desk looking for anything they can find while
the other officers keep their guns trained on the men on the
floor.
Joe:
I hope you got a warrant for that
shit.
Brady:
(throwing it at him) read it shithead.
The officers begin handcuffing each
of the men in the room. Meanwhile, Donovan, who had been in
the bathroom during the raid had managed to slip out the
back door and get to a payphone. He had just finished the
call when he heard a voice behind him. He turns around to
see John Pappalia standing behind him. John has a blank look
on his face. Donovan looks into his eyes as he hears a
gunshot. At first he is stunned but as he feels the burning
in his chest he realizes John has just shot him. John takes
off running. Donovan slowly slumps to the ground and the
scene fades out as officers come running out the back door
to see Donovan laying on the ground bleeding.
