As Joe complies with the officer he
looks puzzled wondering what is going on. He gets on his
knees as the officer instructs him to do then the officer
walks up and places hand cuffs on him and stands him to his
feet. he places him over the trunk of the car and begins to
frisk him. He finds a gun in Joe's shoe and Joe immediately
tells him he has a permit for it. The officer takes the
weapon and places Joe in the back of the suburban without an
explanation. The officer takes Joe downtown to the station
and brings him downstairs to an interrogation room where he
leaves him. Joe is in the room for what seems hours when the
door opens and Brady walks in.
Joe: I should have known...(Rolls
his eyes and shakes his head)
Brady: It's been a long time
Joe...a long time...
Joe: Well what do I owe the
pleasure to this time Brady?
Brady: (Sits down across from Joe
and pulls his chair close) What can you tell me about Bobby
Lupo?
Joe sits and stares at him for a
minute before answering..he smiles slyly ..
Joe: What's wrong.. you didn't lose
another stooly did ya?
Brady lunges at Joe and begins to
beat him violently as other officers rush into the room to
break it up. Joe spits at Brady as Brady slugs him in the
face over and over. Joe looks at Brady as the officers
remove him from the room..
Joe: False arrest, false
accusations.. Assault an battery.. not looking good for you
cocksucker!
Brady: This aint over asshole..not
by a long shot!
The scene fades as the officers
leave the room and Joe sits in his chair bleeding. He thinks
back to the time he met Brady, back when he was a kid just
coming up. Brady shot him in the leg during a bust. Joe sits
and says under his breath...
Joe: You're right asshole. this
isn't over by a long shot!
The scene fades out as 2 officers
take Joe out of the room and down the hall.
Scene 4: Jay's house
Jay is in his den working when his
maid comes in. She knocks as she enters the office.
Maid: Sir, your brother is here to
see you and he..well, you will see for yourself sir.
Jay: Well tell him to come in
Rosalie.
She gets Joe and shows him into the
den where Jay is pouring a drink. he turns to see Joe's face
and he instantly breaks out into a rage.
Jay: What the fuck happened to you?
You ok?
Joe: Brady..that's what happened. I
thought you took care of that prick?
Jay: He couldn't be bought.
Joe: Yeah, well he has taken it
upon himself to make me his number one priority now.
Jay: He has nothing on you.
Joe: He was asking me about Bobby
Lupo.
Jay: So? you weren't at the hit.
You weren't there. Fuck him, he has nothing. You didn't say
anything right?
Joe: Please.....I may be pissed off
but I am not a rookie, you know me better than that.
Jay: Why did he hit you?
Joe smiles and shrugs his
shoulders.
Jay: that mouth of yours is going
to get you clipped one day. I keep telling you that.
Joe: Nobody lives forever bro.
Jay: Look, I have some bad news.
Joe: (with a look of concern) Spill
it.
Jay: Duke is gone. They got him
while he was out with his family. They killed him in front
of his fucking family!
Joe stands up and passes the floor
while holding his head. He is clearly upset but holds back
the tears. Duke was a long standing member of the family and
the death comes as a shock to Joe.
Joe: Totino?
Jay: We don't know.
Joe: FUCK THAT JAY! YOU KNOW IT WAS
HIM!
Jay: Nobody knows for sure, so we
are not making a move..for now
Joe: Jesus fucking christ. Do we
just sit here as this prick picks us off one by one? That
could have been you or I, you know that!
Jay stands there looking at his
brother, all beaten up, he finally sits down and turns to
Joe.
Jay: You take Donovan. Go see Nicky
Glasses. Make sure he disappears. Then I want you to go to
the Fireside Pit. It's a new club down town. John Pappalia
has been seen hanging out down there. If you see him..kill
him. Totino will feel the pressure and we will get results.
The scene ends with Joe leaving his
brothers house. As he drives away a black sedan is seen
pulling out from behind a car and heads down the road after
him.
Scene 5: In Joe's car
Joe looks in the rear view mirror
and sees a black sedan behind him. Just as he thinks it is
another cop, the car pulls up along side and a gun sticks
out of the window. Bullets spray everywhere and both cars
head down the road in a high speed chase. They weave in and
out of traffic as cars go whipping by at blurring speeds.
Bullets are flying the whole way as they are trying to kill
Joe. they race in and out of traffic for about twelve blocks
and they head into a construction zone. The car pulls right
behind Joe but Joe pulls out of the way just in time to
avoid a bulldozer that is parked but the car behind him
doesn't turn in time and the car hits the dozer and smashes
into bits. Joe stops the car and goes back to the scene.
Workers can be seen everywhere around the wreck and Joe
looks at the driver. He recognizes him as one of Totino's
guys but the passenger is gone and nowhere to be found. Joe
grabs his cell phone and informs Jay of what just happened.
Sirens can be heard in the distance and Joe stays for the
police to show up. Just as he thought, it's Brady and
Wilcox.
Brady: Well well well.. You know
kid, I thought we would see each other soon but not this
soon. And a dead body to boot? looks like you're in a bit of
trouble.
Joe: Fuck you Brady. I didn't kill
this guy and you got plenty of witnesses here who can tell
you I was being chased and shot at.
Worker 1: He is right officer, that
car was chasing him.
Worker 2: I saw it too
Worker 3: ME too
Wilcox walks over to Joe and looks
him straight in the eye but Joe notices that he has a
different look in his eye, almost like he wanted to say
something but bit his lip. Brady walks over to Joe and leans
towards him.
Brady: Make sure you give a
statement to the officer taking over this investigation. I
suggest you do not leave town.
Joe: Wasn't planning on it.
Anything else Captain Fuck Face?
Brady grabs Joe but Wilcox gets
between them as they yell back and forth.
Brady: You got a bad attitude kid.
Joe: Up yours cock sucker!
