Scene 1:
Chinatown
Deep in
the heart of the city is a small community of Asian
citizens. Most of them are from mainland China and Some from
outer regions. For the most part they speak the same dialect
of Chinese. In a small shop located on the outskirts of
Chinatown, four men can be seen seated at a table playing
cards. They are speaking in their native tongue as the
camera pans around the room as many different types of
collectibles can be seen on various shelves around the room.
Kwan Tao also known as "Jimmy Chang" is a known member of
the Triads, a deadly Asian gang that has been forcing their
way uptown and right into the turf of the Degrazzio and
Gambale Crime families. Several attempts have been made to
try and settle disputes between the organizations but all
has failed up to now.
As the men play cards, a car is seen pulling up in front of
the store. The camera pans to the lower half of the drivers
side door as the lower half of a man can be seen getting out
of the car. The camera pans up the mans body revealing a man
standing there in an Armani suit along with a briefcase. The
man makes his way to the front door of the shop and walks
in. The bells above the door are heard ringing as the men
put down the cards and Jimmy Chang stands up and walks over
to greet the man.
Jimmy Chang:
Long time no see eh Dino?
The man nods and shakes Jimmy's hand.
Jimmy Chang:
Have a seat.
He
points to a small table in the corner of the room as the
others sit and watch. Jimmy and Dino sit at the table as
Dino puts the briefcase on the table and opens it.
Dino:
$875,000 like we agreed. Do you have
the "H"?
Jimmy Chang:
Did your people do what our people
asked?
Dino:
Going down as we speak.
The
scene changes to a busy New York intersection. A black Sedan
is stuck in traffic and the air is filled with the sound of
horns honking from all directions. In the sedan's back seat
is a frail looking Chinese man wearing a black suit and
black hat. The driver is a very large looking Chinese man
wearing a black suit and leather gloves. He is visibly angry
and laying on the horn as the old man in the back seat is
busy reading a news paper. He mumbles something in Cantonese
to the driver and the driver immediately shuts up and sits
silent waiting for the traffic to clear. Suddenly from out
of nowhere two men appear from the street and from both
sides of the car, they both fire several shots into the car
killing both the driver and the old man in the back as
horrified citizens run away screaming and the two men run
off into the crowd and disappear.
End of scene.
Scene 2: The Gomezabino Compound
Jay is sick in bed as a nurse tends to him. He is talking to
Joe, who is by his side in his wheel chair. Joe motions for
the nurse to leave him and Jay alone. The nurse leaves the
room as Joey Merlino, who is seated by the door, gets up and
closes the door behind her. Joey sits back down as Joe
starts to inform jay of the latest events.
Joe:
Jimmy Chang reached out to us.
Jay:
And?
Joe:
He assures us that our previous
problems will go away now that the Old Man is gone.
Jay:
What about the other thing? Can he
insure safe passage for our guys to do business or does he
think he can just fucking have it to himself?
Joe:
He wants you to agree to a 60/40 take
his way.
Jay:
His way? Fuck that! You tell that fuck
it goes 60 our way or no fucking deal!
Jay starts to cough and almost throws up. He grabs a glass
of water as Joey and Joe look on sympathetically. Jay
finishes taking a drink and then puts the glass down.
Jay:
This fucking flu.. sometimes I think I
will die from that instead of a fucking tumour.
Joe:
Don't talk like that. Nobody said that
was terminal. Don't give up just yet.
Jay:
Bah.. I'm not worried. God don't want
me and the devil thinks I'll take over.
All three men break into laughter as a knock is heard at the
door. John pokes his head in the door and Jay motions
for him to come in. John walks over and hugs Jay and puts an
envelope on the bedside desk.
John:
Rocco sent that over. He told me to
tell you that Santino came through on those no show jobs.
Jay:
All 5?
John:
He said it was tight, but yes.
Jay:
Good. Make sure you put Rick over
there. I want him to keep an eye on Santino.
John:
Santino's stand up. Why would you need
him watched?
Jay:
I don't want him watched. I want him
protected at all times. Santino and I have further business
to discuss.
Joe:
Before I forget, Caesar wants to know
if he can go ahead on the Laferty contract or are they still
on shut down?
Jay:
I told that impatient fuck that I want
that job site shut down as long as it takes regardless if he
loses a few grand or not. This family is set to make
millions off that site.
Joe:
Calm down, he was just asking.
Jay:
Ok, enough business for one day. I
need some sleep. I got to be at the hospital in the morning
for pre op.
John:
You are gonna be just fine Boss.
Joey:
If it's any consolation, my Uncle Pete
has the same operation and he lived to be 77 years old.
Jay:
Thanks... I think.
They all break into laughter again as they leave Jay and the
nurse comes back in and closes the door behind them.
End of scene.
Scene 3: Chinatown
Once again, Dino is sent to talk to Jimmy Chang. The camera
pans into the small shop to reveal Jimmy and Dino sitting at
the table discussing business. Jimmy is smoking a thin cigar
that put an aroma of vanilla into the air which seems
pleasant to all in the room yet Dino appears to be very
nervous.
Jimmy:
Why so nervous Dino? Nice shirt by the
way, red suits you.
Dino:
My Boss wasn't happy with your
business proposal. He feels that 60/40 your way is
unacceptable and wishes me to tell you that 60 his way is
the only way this will work.
Jimmy:
I am sorry he feels that way, but you
are really in no position to bargain with us on this
particular business affair.
Dino:
I am sorry we cannot come to an
agreement on this Jimmy. Please excuse me, my Boss will want
to hear this news immediately.
Jimmy: Oh please, allow me
to send him the message personally.
Jimmy pulls out a gun and shoots Dino three times in the
chest. As the smoke clears you see Dino sitting in his chair
with his head bent back. There is no sign of life in his
eyes and blood drips down his chest and onto his leg and
eventually drips on the floor. Jimmy motions for two of his
men to get rid of Dino's body.
Jimmy:
Make sure you leave him somewhere his
friends will find him.
The two men take the body out back and throw it into the
trunk of their car. They get into the car and drive off. The
scene changes to a little deli shop downtown. The shop is a
known Gomezabino hangout and Joey Merlino can usually be
found there along with Steve Mazzone. The camera pans into
the store where you see an employee cleaning up after a long
day. He decides to take the garbage out back and is having
difficulty with it as it is a few boxes along with a couple
bags being balanced ever so clumsily on the employees frail
arms. He manages to make his way into the alley way and
heads towards the dumpster. He drops the garbage beside the
dumpster and flings the lid open. As he reaches for the
garbage he catches a glimpse of a bright red shirt. He looks
in and sees the body of Dino laying there with three bullet
holes in his chest and a large piece of paper stuck to his
chest with a large note simply saying....NO DEAL!
Scene 4: John's Night Club
The club is closed but inside you can see John sitting at
the table with Steve Mazzone and Joey Merlino. They are are
discussing something they saw on the TV earlier about aliens
and alien abductions.
John:
You trying to tell me we had little
green men makin deals with our government?
Joey:
Pretty much..at least from what that
documentary said.
Steve:
Documentary? Gimme a break. How the
hell can it be a documentary if it is about something nobody
knows is real for sure or not?
John:
See?? My point exactly. There ya
go..... little green men, as if.
Joey:
I never said little green men.. they
are grey actually.
All three men break into laughter as one of the girls brings
over some drinks as she is on her way out.
John:
Thanks hun, make sure you lock up on
the way out.
Bar Maid:
Sure thing John. You need anything
before I go?
John:
I do.. but it would be rude to do that
in front of the guys.
She smiles and kisses John on the cheek and walks towards
the door. She is about to open it when it swings open and
Wayout comes in breathing heavily. John motions for the girl
to just leave as Wayout locks the door behind her. Wayout
goes over to the table and sits dwon.
John:
You look like shit?
Wayout:
Yeah thanks, I feel worse.
John: What's up?
Wayout:
They whacked Dino.
John:
Dino from Mulberry?
Wayout:
Yeah.. Our Dino!
Steve:
Sonova Bitch. I told him not to go
alone.
John:
(Looks at Steve) You knew about this?
Steve:
Joe sent word down this afternoon.
Apparently Jay didn't like their proposal and wanted to
renegotiate.
John:
Oh I think they sent their answer loud
and clear.
Wayout: We gotta do
somethin. Dino was made. Those chink cock suckers can't get
away with this shit John!
John:
Nobody makes a move until we talk to
Jay.
Wayout:
Come on man.. Jay is sick.. in and out
of the hospital more than anything these days. We know you
really run shit.. make a fucking decision John!
The three men look at John as if they were hanging on his
every word. He sits back for a moment then looks at the
three of them.
John:
Ok listen up. if we do this, we do it
clean and fast. Jay can't know anything about this
Capische'?
The three men nod in agreement as the camera pans back and
John begins to plan with them.
end of scene.
Scene 5: Chinatown.
Jimmy Chang and 2 of his men are walking down the street
close to Jimmy's little shop. Jimmy is talking to the men
and point at various stores around the street that he wants
to open up operations in. He stops for a moment to
talk with a street vendor who is selling bananas and
pineapples. Jimmy finds it strange that this vendor got by
him without paying him any taxes for working in his
neighborhood. As Jimmy is busy hassling the vendor, one of
his men look up to see a blue Cadillac rolling down the
street towards them. The car looks suspicious to Jimmy's guy
as is apparent by the way he tugs on Jimmy's jacket. Jimmy
looks over his shoulder and over his black sunglasses to see
the car for himself. Just as he does, the car speeds up
towards them as the back windows start to roll down.
Jimmy: It's a hit, get the fuck down!
Jimmy dives into the nearby store doorway as bullets rattle
the windows and wall around him. He curls up into a ball as
glass can be seen falling all around him. He takes a bullet
in the hip as he screams out in pain. The car speeds off
down the road as people run in all directions screaming and
crying over what has just gone down. Hearing Sirens off in
the distance, Jimmy finally crawls out of the doorway to see
both of his men laying in the street dead. Jimmy stands up
and looks at the two of them laying there. He pulls out his
cell phone and starts dialling.....
